Lawrence’s passive stare in the music video is matched by her withheld vocal which delivers line after line of sage perspective. A favourite lyric of ours for example, “Gives us our pleasure and cuts it with pain, / God must be doing cocaine.” These words hover over a spectral composition of sparkling keys and celestial synths resulting in a hymnal texture to this minimalist track.
